Road Trips With My Daughters 2024

Road Trips With My Daughters 2024
by Michael Doyle

There's a sort of magic I learned as I grew
That traveling with children reveals anew
The wonders and enchantments there are to find
Along with the souvenirs that serve to remind

One of the places gone to and things done
As the days pass under the summer's sun
Maybe lacking perfection but building memories
These are the things that make good families

It's an investment in growth and happiness
Even on those days that add up to less than bliss
In a lifetime of such blunders and wonders and glories
This might become a day that had stories within stories

Traveling too many hours, not quite well-planned
And yet adding up to missteps easy to understand
And easier still to smile on and maybe forgive
Of adventures, we didn't quite manage to live

I had chose the Henry Ford as a point of creativity
To share with my daughters and encourage ingenuity
I have always sought to encourage leaps of imagination
Believing that all things are possible with innovation

This was another stop along the way to becoming mature
Hoping that in sharing one man's path it might nurture
The sorts of choices that would help these girls find voices
That would rise above chambered echoes and drowning noises

There we were stuck on the wrong side of the gate
We found ourselves just short and several minutes too late
But instead of disappointment, they found pleasure
In the times spent talking as having worth beyond measure

Turning toward dinner we recounted times that had passed
And the sorts of dreams and pleasures that have been cast
In the days that have come and gone and have readily shown
That imagination and inspiration are better than things known

We arrived just after sunset had filled the night skies
We had seen its last traces of pink and peach with our eyes
Turning to night above the trees near Lake Erie's shore
Without disappointment, they smiled that there would be more

And that said the truth that I did not really want to hear
That sometimes things are missed but magic doesn't disappear
We had watched the seagulls overhead before we had arrived
Other beaches are left to explore and we had survived

Through the Son

Through the Son
by Michael Doyle

There's something in my attitude
It's heard in my love and gratitude
On my knees, I am praying
On my lips, I am saying

Hallelujah, for all my healing
There is grace in all I'm feeling
Here in all my days
I keep my words of praise

Lifting up my heart in song
It's to Jesus, my soul belongs
I have no other gift for my king
Living by the words of this song I sing

In all the wonders and the signs
As I look on with love for the divine
There is wonder as I look on the glory
Of how Jesus rewrote my story

From death to life, in the dark and light
By Jesus, through Jesus, I do what's right
There are greater things yet to be done
All of this, delivered by the Son

In His Name

In His Name
by Michael Doyle

In the name of Jesus
We have found everything
In seeking miracles
We praise Jesus as we sing

In all moments, help me to see
The faith needed for victory
I ask for blessings and receive
The increase needed and I believe

By the power of Jesus's name
We can and do heal the lame
Whatever is needed is done
Miracles are provided by the Son

The love of Jesus is our story
In every moment, we live His glory
As we live in and of His name
And walk our steps, feeling the same

In His love and protection
We always feel the connection
In His name every day
His love is lived in every way

Tough Prayers Silently Spoken

Tough Prayers Silently Spoken
by Michael Doyle

We need to keep ourselves humble
However, the world may tumble
We need to be on our knees and pray
Our hearts are in gratitude and will stay

This is our best good answer
As we live life's flow like a dancer
Living the ebb and the flow
Giving our all in all we live and know

All this passes with words of prayer
God's will helps us evade Satan's snare
In our moments of prayerful worship
We are building our greatest relationship

His will and not ours to be done
All of this in the name of the Son
Small stories often have big meaning
Parables and prayers make us better human beings

Knocking at the doors for righteous opportunity
We know God will always be true to you and me
In this faith, we ask God for what we need
Day and night it is given as we daily read

It's there in the words of the good book
And seen by opened eyes as we take our look
Heaven is filled with angels waiting to hear
All that we love and all that we fear

Prayer is our first response, not a last resort
However much the Devil rails in his retort
Prayer changes things for the Lord's better
From where we are and whatever the weather

It creates the climate of where we need to be
As the divine catalyst for you and for me
Taking us from where we are to the there
We will reach through the effort of holy prayer

Prayer will always change our minds
In doing this, it leaves worry and anxiety behind
Instead, living the peace that is found
In the presence of the Lord as prayer abounds

Prayer changes our hearts from being broken
As we live the righteous life in words spoken
We learn we need to pray through our pain
It brings the sunshine, even in our life's rain

Praying changes the nature of our relationship
When given adversity, prayer becomes worship
You learn that if you can't meet in the middle
A secret is to pick God's side for just a little

And find yourself in a prayer held for the whole
Because, it turns out prayer shifts the soul
God can handle all that we find that we cannot
This is the open secret that some have forgot

Living in prayer will change our future
This grows as we grow and learn to mature
Prayer is the difference between where want to be
Shifting where we are to the good of our dignity

It turns out, prayer is the miracle of every season
Truth in vision is given for righteous reasons
Taking us to exactly where we need to be
Prayer is the best answer for all of eternity
