“Education perverts the mind since we are directly opposing the natural development of our mind by obtaining ideas first and observations last. This is why so few men of learning have such sound common sense as is quite common among the illiterate.” – Arthur Schopenhauer
Once you've surrendered to the knife Your silent pleas won't save your life This, then, is the solemn price paid For the best-laid plans never made
This is what it is to be done with mankind To take the bitter red pills, no longer blind Fear is not your savior or your friend And yet, to be brave is only to pretend
In the end, every moment is about love From those spent in Hell and, from the Heavens above As we become willing to give our all For the sake of love, we strive to recall
Faustian bargains are quietly made With devils of whom we should be very afraid Having no choice, we put our necks on the blade Whimpering false courage as our hand is played
Those filled with more love than hate Beg the world's mercy to tenderly wait And not to take their loved ones away Out into a world too cold, lost in words, they pray
Knowing that life doesn't work this way As believers, we hope on this faithful day That somehow, we might protect what we love Seeking miracles out of nowhere but Heaven above
Off we go toward our forsaken twist of destiny As if our lives are facing their final mutiny We become as if dairies and books to be read Maybe sometime after we all are finally dead
Let us each be turned to the grace of page one Letter by letter to words approved and done Prayers are made that judgment will be justice won Somehow, before the new day's rising sun

“It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God, to obey his will, to be grateful for his benefits, and humbly to implore his protection and favor.” – George Washington (1789)
“Still I hope I shall always possess firmness and virtue enough to maintain (what I consider the most enviable of all titles) the character of an honest man.” – George Washington to Alexander Hamilton (Thursday, August 28, 1788)
From the lowest to up on high From the shepherds looking to the sky To all of us who needed to be saved Jesus came to raise us from the grave
Answering the prayers for all Given to singing in response and call That comes to giving its healing God let your mercy be prevailing
My eyes search across the pages For the word of the Rock of Ages Let faith carve the path that I walk And wisdom guide the words that I talk
As He lives among us Giving to and shaping us because He is the God shepherding my heart And asks only that I do my part
I do my best to turn my life around Living by the truth that I've found Promises made are promises to be kept God's love heals the tears that I've wept

“Serenity, peace of mind, humor, the ability to laugh at one’s self. Those are things you need the most, but it’s beyond my power to give them to you.” – Pedott to Fred Renard, in The Twilight Zone, Season 1, Episode 12, “What You Need“
Heading out of Australia to escape this Aussie winter. First stop Japan, then UK/Ireland and if work doesn't call me back, onto Chicago. I will make it up as I go along
