An Outpouring of Praise

With the power to save
You called me out of my grave
I was heavy from sins chains
And all of my own efforts were in vain
The day of my salvation
Came to change my destination
Your love brought a glorious day
Changing me forever in my ways
It was the best day in my history
Filled with truth and no mystery
Now, every day is a day of celebration
And every moment spent in fascination
Along with every tongue, I do confess
As I bow before the Lord in this test
I sing out praise in His holy name
And His atonement erases all my blame
With His words quietly spoken
He restores my heart from being broken
And in return, I offer my praises
For the light of my remaining days

A Push Too Far

A push too far
And it's going to leave a scar
What a move to make
You didn't even fake
You just stole my money
I suppose you think it's funny
I know that I honestly do
Cause I would have given it to you
Never mind your protestations
And your attempted equivocations
I've always given you more than you asked
And done more than you tasked
Because I wanted you to know I would
And that I would always make good
If there was any way that I could
And now I know that your heart is no good
There's something freeing in that
It comes across as a natural fact
And it makes sense of what you've done

Practiced Denial
Practiced Denial

We laugh, we smile
We practice our denial
Trying hard to hide
Feelings we can't confide
There are words unspoken
Like sharp sticks poking
Leaving wounds that will scar
It all went a bit too far
Painted like a clown
It always got me down
Like a three-ring big top
That didn't know how to stop
Problematic monkeys found
Circuses to chase around
There was no way to find a cure
And no way our love could endure
We laughed, we smiled
We practiced and defiled
Those things of sacrament
The doomsayers were prescient
