It is clearly influenced by mento, American jazz, and rhythm and blues and heavily emphasizes bass and drum downbeat and offbeat rhythm section.
There is also a strong link between the Afrocentric Rastafari religion that began in 1930s Jamaica. This linkage helped the music expand across the globe, giving the genre worldwide visibility. The idea is that soldiers and musicians are tools for global change, bringing about the One Love gospel of the Disapora’s social revolution. The lyrics are often sung in Jamaican Patois or “pidgin English.” Regardless, with love proclaimed as its religion, reggae spread worldwide. As it did, it came to incorporate local instruments, and like any good rock-based genre, a fusion of music styles came into play.
Expanding into nearby Latin America, Reggae en Espanol popularized across Panama into the South American countries of Venezuela and Guyana and expanded from there across the continent reaching Portuguese-speaking Brasil. From there, we in Second Life have an ambassador of this genre in the unique stylings of Loopman Blep. It is worth acknowledging that, of course, reggae has expanded its influence into Europe and the United States, too. Excellent examples of this music are found in Bob Marley and his family, Peter Tosh, Steel Pulse, and fusion groups such as Third World. Of God coming down from the mountain to live In our atonement through the salvation that he gives We cannot serve the purposes of this sacred love Without the confidence given from God above
This is a love that doesn't know fear It's the perfect love in which we persevere We walk in this love because of what we believe Loving our brothers and sisters as we best conceive
We shouldn't allow an ungodly world to refine The words we live by as these words serve to define Instead, we should lean in to fully understand Just what it is that our holy God commands
God's love does not come in steps or increments It is all-encompassing and not degrees of sentiments Embodying our response to God's loving, full reality It's the sunlight of life independent of gravity
It is our senses overwhelmed by all the love given As we walk this life before we are even forgiven God's love is the primary of all our hopeful consideration It delivers us from ourselves and feelings of condemnation
When God's love comes, it comes to evict all fear As we walk further in a love that will disappear Enabling us to walk in the motives of purity That invites our souls from hiding and into nobility
We learn to walk in wisdom and degrees of shrewdness As we learn to discern beyond this world's rudeness These allow us to walk away from those things counterfeit Satan tries his worst to cause our souls to become forfeit
It's a backwards world filled with false illusions As a dismissive cause forced on us from suffered delusions Truth walks forward in its clear and certain direction It is as deeply meaningful as are all of God's corrections
This world's culture distorts humanity's dignity Without understanding God, we are left in fragility Somehow missing that we are defined by God's boundaries We must honor these to properly approach God's divinity
In life, we find our timid souls must learn to love first Seeking to serve and satisfy the seeker's deep thirst We do this by acting in ways that bring God's satisfaction In our every word and in all of our littlest actions
