Thought For the Day: You Can Only Protect Your Liberties In This World By Protecting the Other Man’s Freedom. You Can Only Be Free If I Am Free

“You can only protect your liberties in this world by protecting the other man’s freedom. You can only be free if I am free.” – Clarence Darrow, lawyer and author (18 Apr 1857-1938)

Unvanquished

Home, Sweet, Haunt - The Haunted Woods -Evil Rises From the Grave

Unvanquished
by Michael Doyle

Crescent moons signify death
Night births the heavens with her last breath
The realm of darkness buries the sun
Until once again a new day is begun

Digging the way through disparagement
Needs perseverance when there is no encouragement
The seeds of dreams come from kernels of tears
Until at last hope fully reappears

The Necronomicon brings together
The art to the artist in a cosmic tether
Brought together in a vision from a blind seer
All in the name of the conjured fear

Images take shape just as they will
Bringing to the audience a myth’s thrill
A synthesis that knows its fatal place
And will hold no other in its embrace

A gift of the gods from the repressed past
It’s special darkness was created to be cast
As the hub of the wheel that brings its creation
As a wide angled lens expand our imagination

The camera glides to create prolonged sensation
That finds its way into the psyche in its penetration
Perpetual motion illustrates the breadth of motion
As an alien breath creates its organic emotion

A feeling of waiting for something to happen permeates
Like a slow motion glissando Ridley creates
Held back in strength to create suspense
It’s a logic beyond logic that acts to convince

An unspoken voice calls for the crew’s moving on
A woken moment suddenly shocking and then gone
Claustrophobia knows its vapid, sudden arrival
In the primeval struggle for man’s survival

Thought For the Day: We Should See (the Nashville shooter’s manifesto) So We can Know What Exactly Drove This Killer

“We should see [the Nashville shooter’s manifesto] so we can know what exactly drove this killer. And if we don’t see it, we should be free to draw some damning conclusions not only about the Biden administration’s protection racket but about the hate-filled cult of transgenderism.”  – Douglas Andrews

This is the sort of tripe that some journalists with an agenda are trying to pass off as an excuse. Let’s keep in mind that if found, pretty much every other killer’s manifesto has been published. It hasn’t mattered if the reasons are personal or an epic statement for a terrorist or hoped-for movement. I don’t buy the excuses. While I don’t buy entirely into what Douglas Andrews is saying here, I find it unconscionable that we are not being shown this manifesto. Who and what is being protected here and precisely why are questions worthy of consideration. There is an unconfirmed statement out there that the FBI profilers are keeping this from the public as they study the document. But that makes no sense to me. The FBI can study this and release the document to the public simultaneously.

First Principles: When Men Are Employ’d They Are Best Contented

“When Men are employ’d they are best contented. For on the Days they work’d they were good-natur’d and chearful; and with the consciousness of having done a good Days work they spent the Evenings jollily; but on the idle Days they were mutinous and quarrelsome, finding fault with their Pork, the Bread, and in continual ill-humour.” – Benjamin Franklin (1771)

A Cosmogony of Fear

Alien Love Song Too
A Cosmogony of Fear
by Michael Doyle

In a wide sweep of the Temple Apollo
Is the beginning of what the Oracle knows
The things of myth, from the the beginning grow
As the memories of three sisters glows

Imagined become the stories that resonate
Global fears depicted as our weary fate
Imbalances live in our cultural dreams
As the sands of our imagination played on screens

Icons that pass into lurid offense
Play the purpose beyond all our pretense
Seeds of Jupiter release our dread
Of the death rattle heard inside our heads

One scratch, one kiss, one look away
Can bring disaster to our every day
H.P. Lovecraft played with the unknown
At the mountains of madness, it's shown

Space is supposed as silent and dead
But is it? Questions an inquiring head
Is the beginning of the end for humanity
Man's need to know destiny is our vanity

The first images are felt as deplorable
Leading to a counterbalance that's explorable
The Tower of Babel collapses with a scream
Desperation is messy but makes us dream

Like parasitic wasps implanting their embryo
That later bursts out of humans as fears grow
Our dreads feed on us from the depths inside
There in plain view as the very best place to hide

Far beyond, is where we are free to define
Our inner horrors that come for us to refine
A thrilling sense of our inner cosmogony
That becomes in a sense of replacement theology

Cornhub - Fly Saucers and Other Alien Matters - Crash Site

Some may claim it’s a day not well put to use. However, today, I watched Alien again. This brought about a series of five poems. The first of which is reflected above.

Thought For the Day: Many Who Have Spent A Lifetime In It Can Tell Us Less of Love Than the Child That Lost A Dog Yesterday

First Principles: Where There Is No Law, There Is No Liberty

“Where there is no law, there is no liberty; and nothing deserves the name of law but that which is certain and universal in its operation upon all the members of the community.” – Benjamin Rush (1788)

As with all of the founding fathers, Dr. Rush was quite familiar with John Locke’s works.

Thought For the Day: Hatred In A Human Heart Has All Skin Colors, and That Really Is What Is At the Root of Racism

“Why is the race industry blooming? Because it is a lucrative business based on the lie that the United States is the most racist place to live; a lie that has convinced people that more murdered blacks are killed by whites, that unarmed blacks are killed all the time by police, and that straight white men are the worst of oppressors. The reality is far from that. Hatred in a human heart has all skin colors, and that is really what is at the root of racism. This lie is one of the greatest modern facilitators of injustice in this country, and the only way to fight against it is to keep telling the truth to anyone who will listen.” – Emmy Griffin

First Principles: An Unlimited Power To Tax Involves, Necessarily, A Power To Destroy

“An unlimited power to tax involves, necessarily, a power to destroy; because there is a limit beyond which no institution and no property can bear taxation.” – John Marshall (1819)

A Poem for Patriots Day 2023

Juneteenth Celebration - Eiteljorg Museum - Lincoln Meets Contemporary America
A Poem For Patriots Day 2023
by Michael Doyle

In the heart of every patriot rests a song
In our love of country, under God, as we belong
The foundations are strong and pillars are high
As long as Old Glory ripples across the sky

Other countries come only to fade and pass away
But with eternal vigilance, ours will always stay
It will take the bravery of our people held deep
To stay firm in our republic's principles we keep

This country, will always be the People's country
As we guard it's honor, beauty, and nobility
Though we may pass through some passing dark hour
Pass through it we shall with our exhilarant power

Blessedly bold we live in our freedom and liberty
Born of mankind's troubles borne with rich dignity
Justice in our every stride keeps us walking bold
The culmination of mankind's troubles centuries old

The song of our nation is one of freedom's sweet call
United as a people living under the rule of just law
With all the People protected between coastal gates
We know that the future is ours to make and not fate

The God of our liberty keeps us safe and we are secure
As long as we follow His paths our nation will endure
We stand forever firm in our principles as our light
Guiding us through the darkness of this world's night

This is our place where our good minds are without fear
Where the virtuous know that we will always persevere
As we patriots reverse the course back to clear stream
In that clarity of reason and faith that is the American dream
