First Principles: Labor Is Prior To, and Independent of, Capital…Labor Is the Superior of Capital, and Deserves Much the Higher Consideration

“Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor, and could never have existed if labor had not first existed. Labor is the superior of capital, and deserves much the higher consideration.” – Abraham Lincoln

First Principles: Do Not Be Anxious About Anything, But In Every Situation, By Prayer and Petition, With Thanksgiving Present Your Requests To God

Carrying On Past the Hurt

Carrying On Past the Hurt
by Michael Doyle

She's walked away, leaving only pain.
Life feels drenched in the crushing rain.
Life needs a little more of encouragement,
Or you'll get lost in waves of discouragement.

Giving up to surrender is not an option to take.
As children of God, that's the worst mistake.
As we prayerfully look up into the mighty stars,
We know that giving up just isn't who we are.

We need the courage to keep on keeping on.
Carrying on past the worst of the hurt.
We don't know surrender as we keep on keeping on,
Though all of our systems are on red alert.

The Apostle Paul offered up to young Timothy,
All the lessons of his life offered in testimony.
No matter the hardships endured, we are to fight.
By the power of the Gospel to teach what is right.

No matter the struggle, we must endure the test.
As believers, we live by God's grace as the best.
We stand firm knowing the truth of His great essence,
That so long as we live, we do so in God's presence.

When we feel weak and the day is longer than its length,
These are the times we lean on God's superior strength.
There are times for all that seem more than we're capable.
But through the Holy Spirit, we find that we are able.

As long as we know where we stand within God's will,
This is His story, and it is ours, as witnesses, to tell.
We are to live our best to be God's living lights,
Dispelling the darkness for others in the cold night.

Through these things, we find joy in all of our days,
Knowing that God is with us when we follow His ways.
It is our to make the best of situations and chances.
This we know to be true, whatever our circumstances.

Whatever happens in our lives is for our own good.
This is one of the deeper truths to be understood.
The truths we know are found in the lessons we've learned.
From these are the blessings yet to be discerned.

Take joy in the lessons learned as we ought.
Many others find these lessons they've sought.
These life-changing experiences that we reach
Are those that allow us to turn around and teach.

Teach to others about the goodness of God's promise,
Knowing that it is no way any path of compromise.
All the good in our lives comes as God's reward.
It is in no way the wrath of God's holy sword.

Before us all is the vision and testimony of the cross,
Where eternal victory was gained from seeming loss.
This cross and its crucifixion allows us to survive,
In its blessings, we have all necessary to thrive.

It's the atoning sacrifice of Jesus that saves,
Keeping our mortal souls from our earthly graves.
Because Jesus didn't give up, we have salvation.
Through this, each of us knows our eternal destination.

We are to never give up, and only once surrender.
That is God's divine love, so warm and tender.
We are not to give up, hopeless, and living in fear,
In obedience, we must choose to courageously persevere.

Consider these things wisely before you choose.
God's grace and salvation are something you cannot lose.
God's promises are those which are divinely kept,
And far more powerful than any tears that we've wept.

I Will Follow His Ways

I Will Follow His Ways
by Michael Doyle

As shadows fall and night draws near,
I put my faith in Jesus and shall not fear.
I have listened to God in living my days.
To my best, I will always follow His ways.

I know the good news, as I have been told,
My walk is with Jesus, down life's road.
This God of second chances sees my possibility.
His mercy flows greater than the mighty seas.

With a thousand songs taking their flight
I will praise Jesus until the morning light.
From all of my brokenness, He has made me whole.
In following His ways, He has healed my soul.

With every step, I will give God my praise,
This I promise in all of my living days.
No longer walking in the darkness of the night,
I know that God is the bringer of my morning light.

As life's storms howl and unholy winds roar,
It is to God's promises that I will listen to more.
For God, the Father, has me under His care and love,
And I believe in His protection from above.

With a thousand songs taking their flight
I will praise Jesus until the morning light.
From all of my brokenness, He has made me whole.
In following His ways, He has healed my soul.

With His promises true, I believe in forevermore.
For with His love, His goodness, and mercy restore.
In repentance, I now see my way to what is true.
I am walking in this new light, and each day is new.

I believe in His message, and I know that it's right.
I will praise Him from morning until the next day's light.
Thanks to the Father for what He's done to heal my soul.
It's thanks to the Father that I am restored to whole.

With a thousand songs taking their flight
I will praise Jesus until the morning light.
From all of my brokenness, He has made me whole.
In following His ways, He has healed my soul.

Intricate In Arrangement

Intricate In Arrangement
by Michael Doyle

Loss of integral resplendence
Brothers of spiritual discipline
Off balance in our alchemy
It's easy to get lost in the harmony.

These are touches to the soul
Played out in our rock ' n ' roll,
It's the music that moves the feet,
Somewhere hot out on the streets.

Intricate in the arrangement,
The horn section knows no estrangement.
Everybody rehearses their part,
But you feel rock' n' roll from the heart.

Tumbling through with providence,
The music flows in reverence.
We have no time for heartbreak,
But there will be a few mistakes.

Perfection is for the crucified,
I've never wanted to be deified.
The audience dances in the aisle,
We all know the rites of survival.

Intricate in the arrangement,
The horn section knows no estrangement.
Everybody rehearses their part,
But you feel rock' n' roll from the heart.

It's personal to the very last note.
But none of these are played by rote.
The speaker cabinet spins round and round.
There's a celebration in what we've found.

The band explodes with the eights
While the guitars come in just a bit late.
It's that something that is proved all night.
This kind of magic is timed to be just right.

Intricate in the arrangement,
The horn section knows no estrangement.
Everybody rehearses their part,
But you feel rock' n' roll from the heart.

First Principles: Freedom Is Never More Than One Generation Away From Extinction. We Didn’t Pass It To Our Children In the Blood Stream. It Must be Fought For, Protected, and Handed On For Them To Do The Same

Healing Scars Into Stars

Healing Scars Into Stars
by Michael Doyle

We can beat ourselves up in the void,
In all the shame we try to avoid.
Waltzing through interconnecting rooms of shame
This is where we learned to wear our blame.

We tell ourselves that we're different,
Acting humble and somewhat reverent.
We'd give our lives to learn to be strong,
If only we could find where we belong.

Wound by wound, we become more alone,
Learning that we have no exterior skin of stone.
We wonder what it is for which we must atone,
Until a stranger's voice becomes a friend over our phones.

These are the moments that we feel,
Moment by moment, we learn to be real.
We find it is the love of such a friend
That brings us to "okay" and the pain ends.

It's somewhere there in the extended hand,
That smile of love that understands.
With it we learn to reach and extend far
And with hopeful eyes to look up into the stars.
