Taking Heed of Our Correction

The Pond - Forever Inside the Water Lilly

Ephesians 2:1-10

Taking Heed of Our Correction
by Michael Doyle

As believers we walk from sin
Learning to live true life again
God, in His richness has been kind
By this grace, we are not left behind

This blessing has been given as gift
To heal the breach between our rift
Now , it comes that we must rearrange
God asks to make this needed change

Sanctified and set apart in our direction
We walk purposeful in our true correction
Accepting the blessings of our life’s grace
In all of our fullness we blessedly embrace

We know that we are sinners, and that is past
It is not where our attention should ever last
There are three sorts of Christian category
That make up God’s struggling sense of family

Some of the family has made to it way to grace
With contented hearts and giving love to embrace
Some of the family has changes to still make
None of which are the type any of us can fake

Some of the family is lost with a constant craving
All of which needs to change and is not worth saving
Sometimes we need to leave the past for present
Leaving behind our mistakes to live God’s imprint

But with each change made we become more alive
Giving the moments of love and learning to forgive
Our good life as Christians is only by God’s grace
This is the truth that we must always carefully embrace

We stumble as we reach for all that we deserve
Living each step along the way that we serve
God has done this so that we might live for His glory
Living righteously for the bragging rights of this story

Thought For the Day: America Is the Only Successful Multiracial Constitutional Republic In History

“Pause to reflect that America is the only successful multiracial constitutional republic in history. To survive in an increasingly dysfunctional and hostile world abroad, the unique idea of the United States requires concord. But national cohesion is only possible through citizens subordinating their tribal interests to a common culture. Only then do they cease being automatons of warring tribes and collectives. As the world becomes ever scarier, Americans must — as Benjamin Franklin once warned — hang together, or most certainly they will soon all hang separately.” – Victor Davis Hanson

First Principles: The Eyes of the World Being Thus On Our Country, It Is Put the More On Its Good Behavior

“The eyes of the world being thus on our Country, it is put the more on its good behavior, and under the greater obligation also, to do justice to the Tree of Liberty by an exhibition of the fine fruits we gather from it.” – James Madison (1824)

On the Pathway

St. Brendan the Navigator - Don't Betray Me (Stations of the Cross)
On the Pathway
by Michael Doyle

On the pathway of my recovery
There was the load of self-discovery
Finding out who I was and had left
Was, at times, my positive half-step

The mistakes made, I had to learn
The stripes I have, I had to earn
Every scar has me reaching for stars
Stripped down to my dreams of going far

There are so many tears behind my smile
Though complaining was never my style
I'm going to raise it up with bottled cheer
Pressing on into the best of each new year

You know that there is plenty left to be said
About the crazy things going on inside my head
But it's probably best to leave it as it's done
Until I'm sitting with victory at last won

Let's hear it for the ones who keep on trying
Who don't sit down in their defeat, lost in crying
Always on the get back up and dusting off another try
It's that or stay down, and knowing ourselves as reason why

Cobblestoned Memories

It All Starts With a Smile
Cobblestoned Memories
by Michael Doyle

Cobbled together in our memories
Are the pictures of our communities
The pages drying out as histories
We will one day look on as our legacies

Talking in our circled tomorrows
Finding drops of happiness in our sorrow
Learning from each other to live again
Until looking in the mirror, we find a friend

Each new beginning wipes the slate
Starting afresh instead of accepting fate
This is how we find our way to our feet
Rising hard to victory instead of keeping our seat

It's about taking in all the sunrises
Without apologies for the surprises
That come along to make our days
Complete and fulfilling in a million ways

It's the things that make life right
That turns the darkness into light
There it is played across the splash screen
All the exploration behind all that we mean

Thought For the Day: Kindness In Ourselves Is the Honey That Blunts the Sting of Unkindness In Another
