On Alien Worlds

On Alien Worlds
by Michael Doyle

On alien worlds,
There are contagions in the light.
It's played by a different set of rules
That must be kept pitch black as night.

There is life there
Swimming in the light.
It's a difference that we fear
Though we have no real right.

Evil transfers itself
Like any virus or common cold.
It's not existence but absence
Of any trace of God's presence.

It becomes something more than compelling,
As our desires become self-fulfilling.
There is no stopping until it takes control,
And we who would master this have lost our souls.

This then is a very human story,
The one that defines our moment of glory.
It's not about falling down, but rising up,
That gains us access to the victor's cup.

It's the same with prejudice and its ways.
It spread from vessel to vessel in ancient days.
It's a sad story without any thread of dignity,
However, it has continued to play out in human history.

The only cure is that those who live by harshness,
Filling their souls and our souls with darkness,
Can also bring about peace and love by imagination.
By doing so, this is the first cause of illumination.

From Darkness, Light

From Darkness, Light
by Michael Doyle

Whatever the problems in life that vex and annoy,
The sun shines so that the wide world can enjoy.
It seems whatever good can be said of the night,
Humanity needs its time to soak in the daylight.

Sunshine is nature's hug that speaks to us all of love,
It is a dream within a dream that beams down from above.
Sunlight paints from both sides to remove the shadows.
While moonlight sculpts textures, sensuality knows.

Mixed metaphors are often indulgences of our anxiety,
Born as much from our simplicity as from our complexity.
The disease spreads through the contact that makes up our embrace,
It is both the boon and the bane of our fragile human race.

Skipping to the presumed end, we trace the glory,
And in doing so, we unravel the shreds of the story.
To become deconstructed to the base of who we are,
We find our past and our future is found ins the stars.

Patches of sunlight dance with the spirit of the wood,
Knowing a drunkenness that fills our hearts with good.
These are the experiences of what feels like God's light,
And brings our souls to become one with what is right.

This is what we have known from the ancient days of lore.
That from darkness there came the light of something more.
From this sensation that we aren't able to fully measure,
Comes the feeling that moves us, as if mankind's best treasure.

There's a touch of life shining from your beautiful eyes,
It sings of something warm and wonderful in your sighs.
It might be that my blue heaven is found to be unreachable,
Yet this sermon of faith and hope remains somehow teachable.

Rebuilding America

Rebuilding America
by Michael Doyle

Our defiant spirit makes America proud.
We have more faith than we should be allowed.
It wasn't passing time that shaped us into being.
Our visionaries forced us into always seeing

The shapes of things to come for our nation
Were led by our pioneers through rich exploration.
It was our rugged, inventive persistence
Through which we willed ourselves into existence.

What makes America great is not the past,
The best of America are things that last.
This nation was built through audacity.
The same strength will carve out this century.

From the wilderness, we forged our civilization,
Spreading across a continent to become our nation.
Lady Fortune smiled on a people who would self-rule,
This was the stuff of freedom and liberty's school.

The wolves of Wall Street brought barbarians to the gate.
Banging on the walls, they crashed and almost sealed our fate.
The instinct of finance was to risk, conquer, and compete.
It nearly brought us to a bankrupt ruin at debt's feet.

To turn this back, we need to rebuild our fabled industry,
Securing commerce to turn back aggression by our capacity.
Free markets spawned to improve other nations' economies
But all that bred was our loss and stronger enemies.

Globalized trade and finance did not end the rivalry,
And there has been no such end to the ways of history.
We discovered this crossroads of our age's choice,
We join together through tariffs to speak liberty's voice.

It is time to reestablish balance to protect our country,
It's time to care less about protecting the global community.
We will focus instead on first principles and philosophy,
As we leverage our way into the annals of lasting history.

An aligned industrial base brings about our prosperity.
This, in turn, brings us a just peace and then our security.
Steady hands lead us to dare to do more than idealize,
It's time for America and her allies to reindustrialize.

We must now insist on ourselves as masters of this game,
Daring to be the crucible of our world's thunder and flame.
With heads held high, we will be known wherever we go,
As the descendants of our ancestors from a century ago.

A Well-Traveled Confession

A Well-Traveled Confession
by Michael Doyle

It's a resounding theme
To live this life and dream.
Putting God into action,
It brings the best of life's satisfaction.

Taking the drink of living water,
In the name of the Son and the Father.
It's amazing what we filter through,
In all of life and in what we do.

Putting faith in the steps we take,
We know our journey is not a mistake.
Hands held to take away life's grief,
This is the sacred way that brings relief.

Planted seeds in the soil,
It's a secret's work as we toil.
Finding encouragement in each other,
This is what God means by loving one another.

Better than words are the commands of love,
Doing, not saying, the ways of the above.
Faith and hope are our daily praise,
Bringing God into the hardest days.

Serving people is the truest ministry.
This has been the case throughout history.
The blessings shared are in abundance,
Prepared in the share of God's providence.

Moving in the moments that work together
Imprinted as they are to bring the better.
We can't let words get in the way.
The Holy Spirit leads our needed day.

The Holy Spirit filters purity.
It's the same for you and for me.
God washes through all that needs to be done,
Bringing hope for the hopeless through the Son.

It brings peace into this troubled world needed -
In the pleaded warnings and words heeded.
It's the love of Christ found in our actions
And through these chances taken, we find satisfaction.

Living testimony found in acting on God's laws
Removes all hesitation for His good cause.
We learn to share God's love as we struggle to do,
Finding the blessings are many and the troubles few.
