Oscar Night Without A Fright

Oscar Night Without A Fright
by Michael Doyle

Hollywood tries to get one thing right,
How to survive the Oscar night without a fright.
Celebrities don't walk the red carpet zone
Without Armani on a tightrope of their own.

Harnessing star power to openly conspire,
Giorgio demonstrated fashion's power to inspire.
For decades, Armani shaped high fashion's legacy
All his designs shared his open conspiracy.

His work has ended as an expression of his voice.
Death does that to people as a matter of choice.
Symbols of fashionable black empowered #MeToo
New ideas crossed the red carpet for me and you

Effortless eloquence draped in its own seduction,
From flowing dresses to a power suit reduction.
Armani struck out into the high fashion industry.
Chaos found order in the styles from House Armani.

Passing decades found praise for quiet luxury
When stealth wealth kicked into the incendiary
Patterns that became the stride of the unstructured suit
And all of Hollywood crumpled in its pursuit.

His work has ended as an expression of his voice.
Death does that to people as a matter of choice.
Symbols of fashionable black empowered #MeToo
New ideas crossed the red carpet for me and you

Fifty-Five Years Gone

Fifty-Five Years Gone
by Michael Doyle

From crayons to my sister's perfume,
I was lost deep inside the White Room.
Things of death made me feel fear,
And I needed another atmosphere.

I lost myself on memory lane,
Half convinced that life slips down the drain.
Looking for my way out,
While others looked to twist their shout.

We only had to find it.
It didn't matter if it hit.
We held music to be somewhat reverent,
As long as it said something different.

AM radio's wasteland left me unimpressed,
While FM was my soul fully expressed.
I wasn't interested in the 45s DJ way,
At least not compared to stereo long play.

Everything was down to experiment,
Players derived kicks from their musical variant.
As if the fortune had been read,
There was something new to be said.

We only had to find it.
It didn't matter if it hit.
We held music to be somewhat reverent,
As long as it said something different.

The Autumn leaves were already falling,
When a new opportunity came calling.
From the closing door came a new beginning.
The adventure of music is never-ending.

New ways of feeling sound came from deep inside,
Like the cry of a wild animal or maybe wounded pride.
Shamen and madmen sometimes feel the call,
As across the spotlighted stage they'd crawl.

We only had to find it.
It didn't matter if it hit.
We held music to be somewhat reverent,
As long as it said something different.

First Principles: Love Is More Powerful Than Hate, Hope Is More Powerful Than Fear, Light Is More Powerful Than Dark

“Love is more powerful than hate, Hope is more powerful than fear, Light is more powerful than dark “. -Joe Biden

After 25 minutes of searching through Biden quotes, this was the best I could find that everyone should find agreeable as a first principle. I even looked through the speeches his teleprompter drafted…..

Living: The Attempt

Living: The Attempt
by Michael Doyle

It's in replacing us with you,
That we find the gospel true.
Anchored in His abundant life,
Through grace, we are removed from strife.

God's riches at Christ's bloody expense,
The hard truth strips us of our pretense.
As God's holy truth is revealed,
We find our hidden pressures cannot be concealed.

We, as works in progress, pass the test
By putting our faith in Jesus, that we might rest.
Knowing that we are lifted up when we fall,
So long that is, as we answer when our Lord calls.

The road turns our blindness toward the light.
We find our souls finally get it somewhat right.
As human candles, we illuminate the way,
By living our praise throughout our days.

Our heritage is rich in its deep legacy,
We look back on courage that is legendary.
The cross before us leads the way -
Our trust and faith carry the day.

Beseeched to be living sacrifices, leading others
Into loving God and loving one another.
Teaching and reaching well teamed together,
We can help the world to do and be better.

In God's goodness, He gave the world His son,
And with the crucifixion, the battle with Satan was done.
Salvation sets us free from our set of sins.
Sanctification and glorification lead us to find our friend.

We walk our lives in perfected harmony,
Through all the days that we live unto eternity.
Strengthening of spiritual growth is our measure.
The gates of Heaven hold our greatest treasure.

While this brings us to great emotion,
We must turn our eyes toward our devotion.
Driven by God's sweet and loving mercy,
We find living for God is truth, not heresy.

The push and pull of our twin motivations,
Trigger the grace of our loving devotion.
We awake as new creatures wearing our best "good"
As Jesus insists, and it is best understood.

With all God gives and has accomplished,
Our path with God is one well-established.
Heart and soul, we are driven by purpose -
To live our lives in God's good service.

Belonging as one of God's holy family,
We step into each step as a step of agency.
Purified to live life, not in commotion,
But doing all we do in God's devotion.

Giving all of ourselves for God's glory,
Sacrificed as we are as part of God's story.
The wages of sin are a penalty of death.
Living for our God, we are sanctified by His breath.

In doing this, we learn to fix our attitudes.
We learn to live our lives with gratitude.
No longer distracted by unintentional drift,
Instead, we surrender to God's greatest gift.

We need to avoid strategic incompetence,
Becoming more skilled as we grow into repentance.
Doing our part to live out the best of our hearts.
This is how it should be, if it were from the start.

Making our best attempts at consecration,
We live our mission in full concentration.
In the face of the flow of God's authority,
We are to live our lives with good quality.

This is the quality that leads to fulfillment,
Living life for God as it's truly meant.
This applied to life, is our reasonable service,
Governed as we are to live out our purpose.

Knowing what we believe and have believed,
We walk in truth, not easily deceived.
These are practical steps for faith received,
We grow stronger lives in how they are to be lived.

We are to live well to the extent that we can,
Living in peace toward everyone, every woman and man.
Each day renewed in buoyancy to keep heads above water,
We are simply on the path of following our Father.

Transformed in souls and minds with enormity,
We rise above the human need to seek worldly conformity.
We are renewed every day, focused as a living prayer,
Forever mindful that our God is always there.

A Case For Somaliland

A Case For Somaliland
by Michael Doyle

Washington held it as a proper expectation
That immigrants would adhere to dedication
That anyone moving into our great nation
Would endeavor to adopt the path of assimilation.

Still, we find that there are familial ties
To their past nation, and without the need for lies
One such nation has risen from the clouds of darkness.
And as a sovereign nation, it escaped from harshness.

Somaliland is independent and holds sovereignty,
But it needs acknowledgment for its legitimacy.
Said Barre sought to dismantle Somalia's dignity,
Ruling through death and causing an insurgency.

This crude tyranny relied on Marxist-Leninist ideology.
Democratic dissent was disallowed through his cruelty.
Bowing to his Soviet paymasters, in practiced annihilation
Barre's rule brought death and destruction to this nation.

Generations of trauma ended with the regime in 1991.
In a miracle, victory brought consensus, not the gun.
With determination and the vapid will to endure,
Somaliland sought constitutional rule as its cure.

While the rest of Somalia struggled itself into error,
Somaliland sought order, not warlordism and jihadist terror.
The hand of God was clear and evident in this choice.
Refusing hatred, Somaliland chose, instead, a healing voice.

In a region filled with the atrocities of extremism,
The people of Somaliland, instead, embrace pluralism.
Allowing each person to find their way to God's voice,
As a matter of individual dignity and each soul's free choice.

British respect for the rule of law has wrought decency,
In a region that has expressed a preference for tyranny.
Representative rule is handled by democratic institutions
Within the parameters of law set out in its constitution.

The economy is based on a sound respect for property.
The greatest resource is the love for fostering stability.
Lasting respect and rightful standing, it's known
This peaceful land may just reap what it has sown.

Embracing the ways of America with eyes toward tomorrow,
Brings hope but doesn't completely erase the sorrow.
Somaliland has shown that much is quite possible,
And with support, its continuing success is probable.
