First Principles: Systems of Education Should Be Adopted…Which May Not Only Diffuse A Knowledge of the Sciences But…Implant…the Principles of Virtue and Liberty

“It is an object of vast magnitude that systems of education should be adopted and pursued which may not only diffuse a knowledge of the sciences but may implant in the minds of the American youth the principles of virtue and of liberty and inspire them with just and liberal ideas of government and with an inviolable attachment to their own country.” – Noah Webster (1790)

Thought For the Day: If You’re the Most Powerful Person In the World and You Can’t Field Questions From the Media Without Losing Your Temper, Maybe You’re In the Wrong Business

“If you’re the most powerful person in the world and you can’t field questions from the media without losing your temper, maybe you’re in the wrong business.” – Olivia Nuzzi in response to Joe Biden going off on CNN’s Kaitlan Collins for asking a question about his meeting with Putin

Somehow Clinging

In Mad Wonderland -Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters
Somehow Clinging
by Michael Doyle

Slipped halfway down
The edge of the rabbit hole
The Cheshire Cat in his crown
Ripped apart his soul

Seeking to find a path through
To the center of the maze
Somewhere between half to and want to
The Hatter is left spinning in a daze

Who is to say what is real
In a world where spin doctors operate
In a realm beyond think and feel
And where even the innocent quietly manipulate

Somehow clinging on for this wild ride
Just over the ledge of the garden's wall
Humility spills out at the price of pride
It's all to suffer for a debt most don't recall

I am certain we are meant for more
As a believer, I solemnly remain
Somewhat twisted and no longer pure
The rusty chains buckle at the strain

Fortune tellers practiced at deception
Tell the story sold as solid advice
Twist of fate painted in misconception
The sinless savior still pays the price

Somehow clinging on for this wild ride
Just over the ledge of the garden's wall
Humility spills out at the price of pride
It's all to suffer for a debt most don't recall

Thought For the Day: I Want To See How the Story Turns Out

“One day I was speeding along at the typewriter, and my daughter — who was a child at the time — asked me, “Daddy, why are you writing so fast?” And I replied, “Because I want to see how the story turns out!” – Louis L’Amour, novelist (1908-1988)

Let’s Rest Here A Little While

Where Our Journey Begins - Summer of 21 - Remembrance of Beginnings
Let's Rest Here A Little While
by Michael Doyle

Let's rest here a little while
Your hands in mine
You give me reasons to smile
As my thoughts refine

What it is I feel deep inside
As I look into those eyes
Talking soft as we confide
The love we have realized

In all the miles yet to walk
There is lightness in our hearts
The sweetest expressions we talk
This is what love is and imparts

And maybe it is just that true
That our journey has only just begun
But as I sit here beside you
I know that the hardest part is done

First Principles: He Therefore Is the Truest Friend To the Liberty of This Country Who Tries Most To Promote Its Virtue

“He therefore is the truest friend to the liberty of this country who tries most to promote its virtue, and who, so far as his power and influence extend, will not suffer a man to be chosen into any office of power and trust who is not a wise and virtuous man….The sum of all is, if we would most truly enjoy this gift of Heaven, let us become a virtuous people.” – Samuel Adams

Thought For the Day: There Is Great Anger In Our Country Caused In Part By Inaccurate, and Even Fraudulent, Reporting of the News

“There is great anger in our country caused in part by inaccurate, and even fraudulent, reporting of the news. The Fake News Media, the true Enemy of the People, must stop the open and obvious hostility and report the news accurately and fairly. That will do much to put out the flame of Anger and Outrage and we will then be able to bring all sides together in Peace and Harmony.” – Former President Donald Trump
