The Footprints In My Soul
by Michael Doyle
Love is not a monologue,
Talking to myself gets me nowhere.
Let's get on with the dialogue,
Moving beyond where I simply persevere.
Under my empire of ashes
Lives a garden from my heart.
Despite the doom of thrashes,
This is where we start.
In the haven of my heart
Are ghosts that I don't want to depart.
My silver bride was my highest star.
She played out every note on my guitar.
There are footprints in my soul.
They were put there by friends.
It's the give and take that consoles
With every beginning that never ends.
She was my dream beyond the Rubicon.
I turned to look for her in my memory
Only to discover she was already gone.
The empty burn in my soul was once so easy.
In the haven of my heart
Are ghosts that I don't want to depart.
My silver bride was my highest star.
She played out every note on my guitar.
The many voices fit the perfect moment.
They turned into my endless torment.
Caught in solitary, I wish I had wings to fly.
Betrayed again, why do I even try?
Winter's snow falls down into my grave.
There is no voice calling that will save.
A long-distance run around leads to dissension.
It's funny how I used to know my direction.
In the haven of my heart
Are ghosts that I don't want to depart.
My silver bride was my highest star.
She played out every note on my guitar.

Merry Christmas (If You Will)
by Michael Doyle
Children are silly,
Believing everything they see.
Playing in Christmas snow,
This image is everything to know.
I've watched the parade unfold.
It's Christmas spirit, and it becomes quite bold.
Dancing across the magic of a winter's day,
I learned the secret of children's play.
Merry Christmas
If you will.
Around my place,
Every Frosty chills.
Some never learn this magic,
And somehow that feels tragic.
It's in spreading love, not a hat,
That's where the magic's at.
Just ask Santa as he drives his sleigh
About how Rudolph saved a foggy day.
Or ask any child who has seen the day
That a miracle out of nowhere came his way.
Merry Christmas
If you will.
Around my place,
Every Frosty chills.
You can't force a miracle.
You can only pray.
You'll never be invincible,
If you think dragons are just to slay.
A child's love naturally inspires
As dreams keep warm by the fires.
Each of us has a little Santa inside.
That's the secret, I quietly confide.
Merry Christmas
If you will.
Around my place,
Every Frosty chills.
Chocolate Chip tastes like a memory.
Lord knows that I miss my family.
There are presents to give and miles to go.
The people that I love best are those who glow.
Despite the worst of our unpleasant fears,
Christmas snow never completely disappears.
I have the word of Santa himself on this,
And the proof is seen every Christmas.
Merry Christmas
If you will.
Around my place,
Every Frosty chills.

(Socialism in a nutshell. Watch as we see it personified in NYC under Mandami and the other socialist mayors who have just been elected. It is almost mind-numbing that our republic’s destruction will indeed come from within.)
