A Song of Testimony
by Michael Doyle
By His breath, I learned how to breathe,
Giving my love to His truth and no longer deceived.
I stand with my hands stretched to Heaven above.
I've put away the weakness of hate for God's love.
My heart beats in time with God's song.
I only wonder why it took this long.
I walked into the Lord's path through grace,
With the love of God shining on my face.
I had put my faith in learning to be tough
Only to find it would never be enough.
Lying wounded in a deadman's bed,
Thoughts of Jesus entered my battered head.
Praying to an unknown God, I cried,
Having given up on all else I had tried.
Step by step, I've found my life revived.
Thanks to God's love, I survived.
This wasn't a time of proverbial one-and-done,
I turned my life over to the Father and the Son.
Asking to be God's servant in my broken heart,
I only hope I can somehow live up to my part.

Victory Stride
by Michael Doyle
When Jesus called my name
His gospel I came to proclaim.
Broken chains gave me my freedom
And now I serve His kingdom.
I had been lost in the harshness
Wanting to outpower the darkness.
But I finally got it right
When I walked into the light.
A wretched soul, He did save
When he pulled me from my grave.
Heavy sins held me down in my pride,
And now I walk that victory stride.
I found I was unworthy alone.
I had a strong need to atone.
I lost my focus on mere survival
When I awoke to God's arrival.
Finally, I found my worth as I walked
All the ways of righteousness I had talked.
His love came to tear up the dark veil.
Now my soul belongs to Him and not to Hell.
A wretched soul, He did save
When he pulled me from my grave.
Heavy sins held me down in my pride,
And now I walk that victory stride.

“Because man and woman are the complement of one another, we need woman’s thought in national affairs to make a safe and stable government.” – Elizabeth Cady Stanton
(The real feminists who fought and risked for women’s full participation in our society understood that men and women complement one another. How did we get to some who can’t tell you what a woman is?)

Approaching Thanksgiving's Love
by Michael Doyle
We learn to talk just to talk
Under an accidental moonlight walk.
Learning that maybe we love to talk,
At least that is with whom we can really talk.
Practicing lines of unnecessary lies,
The kind that cut deep into the eyes.
From accidental experts, we learn to plan
Until we're all as washed up as we can.
In our gratitude, we approach Thanksgiving,
Just to ride the fairytales of always giving.
The young at heart always find the right play
That finds its game in the magic of every day.
No one loses by being young at heart.
Instead, we find the beauty of every part.
There's a lot of joy as we learn to survive,
Surviving the miracles that keep us alive.
We keep the best of life in our command,
As we become the source of all we understand.
The crude at heart don't know how to love.
It's as if they haven't learned a thing from above.
In our gratitude, we approach Thanksgiving,
Just to ride the fairytales of always giving.
The young at heart always find the right play
That finds its game in the magic of every day.
The differences in life teach us to live.
The worst of living teaches us to forgive.
We stumble; we fall, we recall the good,
And suddenly life is finally understood.
The oh-my-gods of the oh-my-souls
Clear us past our stumbles as life rolls.
Love knows what it knows as only it can.
Washed clean, you learn to become a man.
In our gratitude, we approach Thanksgiving,
Just to ride the fairytales of always giving.
The young at heart always find the right play
That finds its game in the magic of every day.
Quite suddenly, you're who you're supposed to be
As you talk together, walking quite patiently.
Suddenly, you realized what you truly miss,
And you find yourself in the middle of a kiss.
There's a tick-tock of the clock hanging on the wall,
As the cuckoo sings and forgotten blessings call.
Sometimes a sometimes-love feels like Hollywood,
But there's really no such thing; it's understood.
In our gratitude, we approach Thanksgiving,
Just to ride the fairytales of always giving.
The young at heart always find the right play
That finds its game in the magic of every day.
