It is that time of the year again!! Poets across America and indeed the world unfurl their writing flags and prepare to engage in mental combat with the esteemed challenge to write a poem a day for a month. Not just any poems are enough for this challenge either. Instead, the hope is that we find ourselves able to respond to a variety of forms and other prompts in a way that will bring glory and honor… if nowhere else but in our own hearts and minds.
Quite naturally, I started behind the eight ball this year. The excuses form that well this year, I have had computer difficulties to overcome and my two precious daughters are here on visitation. But, I have to be real. I knew this was the month and my girls are poetry in motion. Inspiration forms as quickly as words that I mentally accumulate in my head with every passing moment with these two angels. So, no, there are no excuses. I am just a daddy behind a deadline and needing to play catch up.
