Dressed Up In My Faithfulness

Based on a Wednesday night sermon centered on John 18:11

Dressed Up In My Faithfulness
by Michael Romani

Twisted up with misconception
Prayerful for a new direction
Giving my all to  and for His glory
This is my journey; this is my story

Dressed in my faithfulness
Grateful in His graciousness
Sometimes I feel like Peter
Inept but always eager

Relying on my own intellect
Given to spiritual neglect
Finding last that I turn to Him
Instead being lost up in my whim

I have heard that it's for His purpose
That I am used in His great service
Down the path of the righteous
Hopeful I'll find my way to His likeness

A drawn sword with purpose to defend
I'm dressed up in faithfulness to this end
How can I hope to quell your opposition
Still, I stand ready to take up my position

It's a little bit funny and I have to confide
That, like Peter, I often have to check my pride
Sometimes my best fights start on my knees
Submitting to the Father, though ill at ease

Surrendering to the things of circumstance
Stopping the fight and giving the chance
To let go and let God do His holy part
There with His presence in my humbled heart

Starting out through the burning flames
Shivering in my blame; calling on His holy names
I find my best of me in a spirit of submission
And living out His great commission
