Foot Ware

In a continuing theme that I have been exploring lately, I have been looking at the fine art of design, abstract and otherwise. Today’s poem is a play on designing footwear. Despite a lifetime of running,  working out and competition, this isn’t something that I’ve put a lot of thought into.  Still, I hope the poem might bring a smile.

Foot Ware
by Michael Romani

Pole vaulting madness
Into a relationship of feet
Multiple layers of radness
Where the shoe meets the street

A lesson in competitive response
Kicking up the beat instead of dumping
The in your face garbage mouthed taunts
Where the free throw line ends up jumping

Olympian in our striving
Blowing through that wall
Leaping over then diving
In an accelerating freefall

It's all about the free flow
In a nurturing of design
In a self expression we might know
As an athlete's art refines
