There is an on-going celebration tonight in Second Life in honor of it’s 14th Birthday. I was honored in being asked to read an hour of poetry. Who knew that an hour is so long? 😉 As I was getting ready for the reading tonight, I wrote the following poem off my cuff. The theme for this birthday bash is carnivalesque. So, that’s what I wrote about.
Carnivalesque by Michael Romani Spring is the season for carnival All around the world, it's a festival A one way ticket to the center of the mind Where no one here is ever left behind A time for music to fill the night's air And laughter rings out without a care All the beautiful ladies let down their long hair Love and good times are found everywhere Like a melodic songbird wafting into the night There's a dance floor boogie that takes flight From the depths of our souls' sacred celebration Played in time to our sweet rhythmic fascination Lovers love, and greeters greet, moving fleet As the conga dancers slip down that old street Nothing lasts like the taste of lips filled with smiles Enough to go around for all of life's endless miles It's carnival everybody, can you feel it in your hearts When happiness reaches up to lift you as sadness departs Hey now everybody, leave all your worries behind Latch onto that happiness that brings us peace of mind Look all around you at what goodness and love can create Hey now, sisters and brothers dance together; can you relate? We'll sing and dance in our happy moment of celebration Bringing joy, peace and love to spread across this nation (c) June 19, 2017 Michael Romani All Rights Reserve
