Although not my faith, it is important that we understand the beliefs of others. This particular part of the Qur’an, the al-Nisa has a few themes in which we might find some commonalities expressed. These themes are:
- The unity of the human race including the mutual obligations that men and women hold toward one another;
- Family life including marriage, inheritance and justice;
- The rights of women;
- Peace, war and hypocrites; and
- A general discussion of the People of the Book including Jews, Christians and Muslims.
