Sonic Gems: The Mahavishnu Orchestra With John McLaughlin – The Inner Mounting Flame

The limitless six string and compositional capabilities of John McLaughlin were the driving force behind the first album by the jazz-rock fusion band Mahavishnu Orchestra’s first album in August of 1971.  With a sonic whiplash inducing cross sections of fused genres and mind defying musicianship this fusion group changed the soundscape.  Multiple generations were motivated to play faster, harder and more technically intricate jazz-rock from hearing the first notes of this album.   On a scale of one to 10, I am rating this a seven.
