Time With the Harvard Classics – Samyutta-Nikaya

Although Ally and I are Christians, we recognize the need to understand the ways of other people.  One of these ways is, of course, Buddhism.  Many around us are Buddhist.  For example, my step grandmother was a Buddhist from Okinawa.  There is also that recognition that Buddhism has its part in the development of Western Civilization as well.  With this in mind, while we are firmly Christian, we do believe that in better understanding the beliefs of others, it a) sharpens our own beliefs and b) promotes greater understanding and harmony in our diverse society.

The Samyutta Nikaya translates to “Connected Discourses” or “Kindred Sayings”.  It is a Buddhist scripture and the third of five collections in the Sutta Pitaka.
