Unconquerable Legacy
by Michael Romani

We are unconquerable
That doesn't mean
We don't need to be flexible

We, the people
Are a team
Each of us part
Of that All-American Dream

There have been times
That we have forgotten this
Filled with mistakes and crimes
All of this amiss

But, we have held on
To those things - our legacy
Not tales of once upon
But it is our history

If we are to be
What we are meant to be
We must wear our history
It tells of how we became "we"

From this we
That we are now
We grew in our liberty
As fruits of that honored tree

Treating even past mistakes
As embraced parts
Walking past the heartbreaks
With knowing and forgiving hearts

Hand in hand
We'll take on these trials
Side by side
Until Providence smiles His last smile

We are that team
A living embodiment of the American Dream
You and I are one family
Engraved and emblazoned as America's legacy
