Offense In the Name of the Lord
by Michael Romani

Preacher man keeps on saying
That he's here for truth not playing
Truth is what it is what it is
To tell anything less would be amiss

He's been that way since we friended
Never worried about who is offended
As long as what he's said is said
To the betterment of living and dead

Every child has to find his and her place
Filled with the power of blood and grace
Thankful for all those things given
And that we are living in faith and forgiven

Casted cares are set on God's shoulders
Helping His children to become bolder
Decreed in strength and love
On this Earth as it is and will be in heaven

Scattered words of love and holy worship
That brings it home for the tragically hip
About a search throughout all eternity
A chorus of amens provide the harmony

As we visit along the lines of melody
Whispered hints of the deepest theology
Never expressed in straight lines
It somehow it gets us through our land mines

Offered keys to the almighty kingdom
Raised on torrents of worded wisdom
Short to the point of being proffered
Are the words needed and offered

Even sugar coated, we live in times
Where there is less love and more crime
Troubled and often times needing prayer
Thankful Father that you are there

Here we are where the choir sings
God is in control of what tomorrow brings
Brother can you tell me what's going on
We wander lost until all of our life is gone

Until we find our way back to the Holy Book
With less of a wink or a nod to take the look
And review the words needed to be read
To fill our minds with hope replacing dread

Finding truth with a head filled with ache
Finding peace with a heart filled with break
Sometimes certain it's more than we can take
Calling out for help with all that's at stake

Seeking first God's kingdom of deliverance
Finding it can be a thing of perseverance
Holding on tight for the worth of all we are
Keeping our prayers on the truest north star
