First Principles: Preventing Crimes Is the Aim of Jurisprudence

“To prevent crimes, is the noblest end and aim of criminal jurisprudence. To punish them, is one of the means necessary for the accomplishment of this noble end and aim.”  — James Wilson

Such a simple proposition really.  Looking at San Francisco’s recent acquittal though and the lawless of Antifa and the inability to distinguish between legal and illegal immigration.. I think maybe an occasional review of basic rule of law is perhaps needed.  We have some significant portion of our society including lawmakers who just do not seem to comprehend the basics.
