As the year fades and new year begins to arrive
I am thinking on memories that will always survive
Like when the blue bone trio played at the Drop Dead Inn
To welcome in yet another new year again and again
It was a small cozy setting not just another dumpster dive
And the curious band made the place jump almost alive
Playing on instruments that each have their immortality
There were no bad songs, certainly no single fatality
Only an occasional moment of dead silence
That was quickly broken by keys, harp and fiddling violence
Still dancing cheek to cheek made it almost paradise
When I looked deep into sockets that had been your eyes
We danced and danced until the breaking of the dawn
As quick as the first sun rays – the magic was gone…..
