The lone man watched from a distance to see what he might see
Peering over the ledge and looking down at what was to be
A rainbow dance of ascension down in creature canyon
Out beyond the deep forest of abandoned banyan
The start of dance was when joy needed more than words to say
The modulation of shared perception that caused bodies to sway
Gestures and feet move forward as the urge to drag and stretch
And it began with a few words, a nod, and some music with a catch
It was that idea of delayed tension that brought from the beginning
A need for two or more to share in the cosmic reeling of winning
With all these rites of spontaneous moments of correspondence
It becomes harder and harder to find reasons for despondence
There is in this cumulative force of the primordial rhythm
The common source that is humanity’s most sacred hymn
