In 1967 Birmingham, the English rock band Traffic was formed by Steve Winwood, Jim Capaldi, Chris Wood and Dave Mason. Starting off as a psychedelic rock group, their sound became more diversified and grew to include the Mellotron, harpsichord, sitar and reed instruments. The band also came to incorporate jazz and improvisational techniques.
The first time the band disbanded in 1969, Winwood joined Blind Faith. Traffic, however, reunited in 1970 releasing John Barleycorn Must Die as its fourth studio album. Traffic was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004. All in all, listening to this album for the first time in decades, Aloha Promises Forever rates this album as a solid 10 out of 10.
