A Sermon Well Lived

New Life Christian Fellowship Church - Living Waters

A Sermon Well Lived
by Michael Romani

In a pattern that is somewhat helical
Billy spread the good word as evangelical
Now that God has called for the end of his era
The world can only pray that isn't an error

The message was delivered quietly and simple
Broaden the prayerful base to reach more people
More burdened souls saved was the earnest goal
Brought from sin and then somehow made whole

A gospel based outreach focused on salvation
Yielding from arguments for the greater implication
That a broader acceptance would net more people
Gathering them in harvest for God's temple

Suddenly, with his sad passing away
Wordy preachers are left speechless today
With a gentle word and easy smile
Billy had persuasion that crossed the aisle

A Christian giant has come and then passed away
Mostly praised for his many steps taken yesterday
And this nation owes our heartfelt gratitude
As we have encouraged by his loving, healing attitude

Humility, graciousness and earnest integrity
Are the known stuffs and fruits of the pastor's legacy
These were the things that he lived to teach
As he taught the Gospel to all within his reach

Today, as Evangelism rises across the many nations
The world's leaders owe him credit for inspiration
Reach out across lines of separation and class
It's to him that we quietly raise our glass...
