In my life, I have seen many come to congregate
Waiting with bated breath as it fascinates
That only a handful gather to pursue wisdom
While ignorance more often rules the kingdom
It seems we need a smattering of deeper stuff
At times, it seems we’re playing blindman’s bluff
Swinging madly into the emptiness of hot air
While clinging strongly to foundations not there
Nights fill with empty pumpkin heads of illumination
Days filled with way too, too much procrastination
It is said that first step in resolution is to know the problem
Yet so few want to recognize it might be us and not them
Yes, far too often we turn out to be our own worse enemy
I look out into the blackness like night and wonder why it’s so hard to see…
