Lessons In Elijah

Lessons In Elijah
by Michael Romani

This world is filled with sin
And shattered, broken dreams
Tragedy strikes us again and again
Tested by the pain; gathering in our screams

God called Elijah to his hour
An ordinary man until God's power
The Lord is my God by His name
Called out to glory and without shame

God calls for our righteous obedience
Holding forth the guiding light of providence
Spoke with love and held in reverence
Privately molded by our own perseverance

So full of ourselves and our wounded pride
We need to be emptied knowing God will provide
Motivating us to the actions needed to move
If we would only listen, we would surely improve

It is important to learn and to know
We need to listen to God, if we are to grow
Sometimes it seems we hang on to what appears
Getting lost and missing God's words from our fears

We need to step outside of our comfort zones
Guided by reliance on God's guidance, not on our own
Building our Holy foundation stone after stone
Sometimes we feel lonely, but, we're never alone

Elijah was led into the very belly of the Beast
A place that he was wanted the very least
At the end of life's final telling length
Weariness and reliance on God becomes our very strength

Growing in faith we yearn and learn to grow
Into the persons God wants us become and know
Grace is sufficient as power is found in our weakness
Reliance on God gives power though appearing as meekness

That then is the point of our very business
That God molds and forms us into our very witness
All of the tears cried are simply preparation
As the plans of our life become our very fascination

Beware the Enemy, he will consume with our own fear
That is if we allow ourselves to wallow there
Instead we must keep our focus on walking our Holy Walk
And learn the words spoken are more than mere talk

In the invisible understory, God walks boldly in
Giving what we need to provide our needs again
Stepping out on faith, we must act in obedience
In so doing, we will find all need given by Providence
