Na/GloPoWriMo Day 10.. a third of the way through. The challenge to throw down two opposing thoughts simultaneously going on at the same time.
I went to a Short Form Poetry Workshop featuring someone’s made up form called a “Street Sonnet”. Having listened to 5 blistering poems in a row by the creator of the form about how anyone who isn’t far left is all jacked up and afraid to be individualists, I responded as follows….
Freedom of Thought by Michael Romani Your grind of pessimism dresses as individualism While insisting we all see things the same Thinking the same things to blame Drinking ourselves into a brittle shame Stuck in a paradigm of twisted ivory towers Whose possessors often forget to shower Which given their self professed latitude Just might go a mile to explain the attitudes Denied in the offering refusing the proffering Of any eyes that might see things differently You hold to your dogma quite reverently Never doubting for a moment that you are right Despite a consensus that you only have two eyes of sight What will it take to allow free thought to shed some light?
