Yesterday’s poetry challenge for Na/GloPoWriMo Day 18 was to take a poem from someone else, flip it upside down in responsive lines and then make it your own. I don’t spend a lot of time in revision. But, okay. A challenge is a challenge and I agreed to put up with whatever was thrown my way. Sure, it says optional. But, then, what good is taking a challenge if I don’t at least attempt this right?
The poem:
Love’s Secret
Love that never told can be;
For the gentle wind doth move
Silently invisibly.
I told her all my heart
Trembling cold in ghastly fears.
A traveler came by
Silently invisibly:
He took her with a sigh.
My reply:
Love Revealed by Michael Romani No smile, no lies, no easy sigh No games played invincibly No one in passing shall ever Take her away from me Aww! She loves me enough to always stay My arms give her comfort and strength She feels and knows my heart completely She knows my love to be true and felt deeply Shouted from rooftops for all to see The sun and moon, I give to her I have shown her my love in every moment And she knows it deep inside her heart (c) April 19, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
