The Na/GloPoWriMo Day 19 challenge reads as:
“Today we challenge you to write a paragraph that briefly recounts a story, describes the scene outside your window, or even gives directions from your house to the grocery store. Now try erasing words from this paragraph to create a poem or, alternatively, use the words of your paragraph to build a new poem.”
I have spent days trying to wrap my head around this and finally came up with a poem based on not a paragraph but an article. This one: https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/opinion/earth-day-has-embraced-hysteria-and-abandoned-science/ar-AAw7aCg?ocid=spartandhp :
Plastic Wrappings of Earth Day by Michael Romani Hysteria has taken over and abandoned true science As the new age takes over for passing conscience The bywords of stewardship and responsibility Have long since exceeded their apt capability Touchy feely warnings of a most dire apocalypse Spring forth from the steely traps of liars' lips Passion exceeds the facts as the false prophets proselytize And when deadlines and doomsdays pass they offer up alibis The hysteria of fear is spread out of proportion As grains of truth are spoon fed and with distortion Chicken Little hyperbole has met its catastrophizing rival As the modern day doomsayers threaten earth's very survival Panic is stirred in its propagandist application As tainted politicians exaggerate to take over each nation Past as prologue in its reoccurring nonproductive theme For socialism to win, globalists must destroy the American dream Greening based on lies and purposeful omissions Belies these petty tyrants' truest commission The new age has and is spawning this age of unreason As advances for humanity fall victim to this sort of treason One step at a time we must fight against what is sought Before our deepest calamity is the cost of what they've brought Decisions made must be made on the evidence not falsity Otherwise, we might as well sign off on the demise of society (c) April 21, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
