The Na/GloPoWriMo Day 30 challenge is the last one for this year. The basic concept is to write a poem based around facts. Being that it’s the last day of poetry month, I think maybe there is no more fitting a way to bring this month to and end than to write a poem based on facts about Robert Frost.
A Lover's Quarrel by Michael Romani After a short contemplation of peace It seems the month's end brings release From writing a challenging poem a day And so without further ado, I find this way To write a poem based on Robert Frost's life From his birth to his death and even his wife In a life lived in acquaintance with night The road less travelled was more than right Suggestively named for General Robert E. Lee He led his life with the same sort of dignity From youth, he lived a scholar and gentleman Singularly devoted in his love for one woman In their young marriage, he failed at farming Refusing to allow this to be too alarming He turned his hand back to the art of poetry Demonstrating a man's will and ingenuity He had to turn to Britain to gain his fame And like Hendrix to start to make his name Thanks to his poetic sense of mental cognition He gained four Pulitzers and a medal's distinction Enabling his mark on American culture eloquently Somehow managing to make a mark on world philosophy In a life marred by grief and suffering along the way He had a lover's quarrel with the world to his dying day (c) April 30, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
