Journalistic Contradiction

With opinions come views
Often dressed up as news

It's comical to discuss trust
When trustworthiness is a bust

The truth is in this contradiction
That objectivity is lost in nuance and projection

Basing news on opinions is openly hostile
Undemocratic, egocentric and unworthy of our while

He said - she said in a knockdown world
Where each alliance has its battle flags unfurled

Part and parcel to society's polarization
If not rethought it might well sink our nation

Real news is necessary for our society
Its current state is that of stoic anxiety

Facebook shakes its head at responsibility
Perhaps in answer to its lack of capability
