Thought For the Day: The Greatest Threat To Today Is the Climate of Dishonesty

“The greatest threat to American democracy isn’t communism, jihadism or any other external force or foreign power.  It’s our own willingness to tolerate dishonesty in service of party, and in pursuit of power.” – Michael Bloomberg

While I disagree with a lot of what Mr. Bloomberg has and does currently believe in, I do wholeheartedly agree with his premise.  Dishonesty reigns.  But not only in America but around the world.   The only way we’ll ever achieve just government and true consensual government is through disclosure of truth and making our way forward from those truths no matter how inconvenient.  Where there are honest disagreements, let all sides be heard.

Still, it was hard to post the quote here.  I mean it is a strong implication that while he derived accurate conclusion that he doesn’t even understand that we live in a republic not a democracy.  That’s even set out in our constitution.  A document that perhaps Mr. Bloomberg would be well served by reviewing from time to time.

Regardless, I join with him in denouncing the pervasive culture of dishonesty.  Also, I agree that it was the precise moment when the Democrats circled protective wagons around a serial rapist who besmirched the office of the presidency in ways that hopefully will be undone.  Is there even one among us who would dare defend someone who took advantage of his high office to elicit sex from a staff member now?  Or, is there anyone who doesn’t post removal of Clinton from the ability to practice law not understand that his crimes were indeed revealed.  He did indeed obstruct law and perjure himself.

From that point forward, I have walked away from the Democratic party even as an independent.  The culture of dishonesty is why I also walked way from my ties with the environmental movement.  More about that another time.  Perhaps in a blog under my actual name and not my writing name.   I will say at this point, that I would love to exchange correspondence with Bloomberg on the true state of science particularly with respect to the claims made as to climatic changes.
