Some people amuse. Others are a muse… by birth. The lady asked me for a poem to match her beautiful photograph. This was the best, I could do.
Mirror, Mirror... by Michael Romani There she was sitting beside the ocean Restoring to me a wealth of emotion Staring back into her beautiful reflection Until, she cast her eyes in my direction A gentle soul gone just a bit wild A hint of purity that hadn't been defiled Though she has come face to face with the world And she has claws, they haven't been unfurled I felt the urge to somehow keep her near me To protect her and drink in her rarified beauty Without a single word said, she filled my head With a need to somehow be a better man instead Instead of a lesser man of undeserved, ill intent With a look in her eyes, we knew what this meant She didn't want to label what we both felt Disinclined to jinx the hand that we were dealt The lady Virgo had met her creative Capricorn There on that beautiful ocean side morn And two hearts suddenly found their understanding Without either of these being overly demanding Wanting just to walk side by side with each other Each finding peace and good company in one another Realizing that no boxes or labels are really needed When stars fall and they are justly heeded (c) June 17, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved*
