Sometimes marveling at the sheer inhumanity
Trembling in fear from the fierce intensity
Of things we humans do to each other
Things so wrong, instead of loving one another
Trapped in a tear of our making
It leaves me petrified and soul shaking
Wondering how we can be such fools
Instead of living by that blessed golden rule
Some offer up only tears for the dying
I more often offer mine for those living and crying
Those are my heroes, those daring to live
Never breaking despite the trials life often gives
Finding our peace is such that we make
Most often equal to the love that we make
