A lifetime ago, but, still fresh in my memory somehow.
Reflections On Jamaican Memories by Michael Romani The sun sets and reflects on the Caribbean sea As I think on all it has meant to me There in all of the motifs and themes Are all the familiar and unfamiliar dreams The water both purifies and drowns And in this mixed up world even jesters wear crowns Filled with an island medley of surprises Its mermaids come as both warnings and prizes While the spice of curry wafts through the air Oxtail gravy drips down chins without care Mangoes ripen as the sun sets high Time floats as the clouds drift on by Cracking coconuts in unruly prayers The tourists are happy just being there (c) August 12, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
