In Spiritual Growth

It doesn't take wisdom of a sage
To know we always grow as we age
On a spiritual level this must be encouraged
And stopping from this is to be discouraged

Life consists of the choices we make
No matter where we are we cannot fake
That we must focus on all that is good
And walking away from the bad understood

True Christianity is shown in how you treat others
Shining your love for  our sisters and brothers
It is present in all the fruit that you will bear
In all that you do in showing that you care

If we truly believe we will live what we believe
To do otherwise suggests that we self deceive
It's best to live life in all its best sincerity
And in doing so we grow into spiritual maturity

We each have the potential for living this spirit
The fruit is to be cultivated if we'll only hear it
The first step is begun in our Holy transformation
Daily things to be done in our heart's preparation

Beginning in our moments of quiet daily prayer
Asking that the Lord's presence always be there
Asking that all of the Lord's fruit be shown
And in all goodness of this we might always be known

Spending time daily in the Word of His speaking
Drawn attention that grows beyond peeking
But into direction of thought and action 
That might always lead us toward satisfaction

Then and only then can we start to prune away
The distractions that complicate our every day
Focusing closer to the goals that we have in mind
If it's not, it's best to forgive and leave it behind

The language we use is important in our choice
Each choice weighing in as a matter of our voice
Casting off the sins that act to hold us back
Increasing the light into each goodness we lack

Getting better by practicing all things we would do
Maturing by actions taken by me and by you
We must always grow as part of our One God's family
And by these efforts our fruit betters you and me
