I grew up a Disney kid before Disney went bad. I don’t much approve of the things I keep seeing in their animation these days or the progressive agenda they push far too often. But that doesn’t negate the solid lessons learned along the way up until the last few decades.
Just A Wish A Minute by Michael Romani I remember looking up from the stroller As Tinker Bell flew by on her roller Seemingly between the fireworks in the sky It was magic right before my very eyes Just a spoon full of sugared confection That for most my life gave me direction I had grown up believing in that dream That peered down at me from the silver screen For most of my life it was just a wish a minute From the first breath to last, I was knee deep in it Wishing on that bright twinkling star It made me believe my dreams would take me just as far Long before Walt met Mickey or even Willie He met life coming at him and chased his fantasy Laugh O Gram studio was home to his early animation Always a dreamer, king to his imagination Out of an inkwell, he drew his early inspiration Pouring every ounce of energy in ceaseless dedication He was never too afraid to be seen to fail And thanks to his courage eventually he did prevail In doing so, he touched mine and other souls With tales from the light side and penguins with parasols Happy feet dancing to songs with orchestration I owe an immense debt of gratitude for Walt's inspiration (c) November 1, 2018 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved

I am also a Disney kid. 40 now, but still.. my oldest brother is an animation consultant and does some character design so Disney has pretty much been everywhere for as long as I can remember I enjoyed reading this post 😊

Aww hey, thank you for that! How cool that your brother did character development for Disney. From time to time, you’ll find that some of my other poems have poetic cross references to other Disney contributions and influences in my life. I consider Disney, Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone) and Alfred Hitchcock as among the very best story tellers of the 20th Century. I am certain that these choices are debatable by true critics. But, for me that will the three I have cherished the most. Thank you for taking a moment to comment on my work. I appreciate that very much!
