Scars Into Stars

Scars Into Stars
by Michael Romani

The scars that we wear
Tell us where we have been
Cast out only to forswear
Until we ready to be again

Bits and pieces that are our hearts
Tiny secrets that never will depart
Songs and colors that burn bright
Remind us of our inner fire's light

Enemies in common make friends
Out of strangers at every bend
Holding tight to that yesterday
That now and forever gets in the way

Whatever light there is in ignorance
It is still darkness without romance
Of knowing where our hearts belong
And keeping to what keeps us strong

However sacred are the jungle's laws
Won by heart and fought by claws
What is useful toward peace is what is right
As we hold to our loved ones with all of our might
