First Principles: Democracies Are Short Lived Before These Waste, Exhaust and Die By Their Own Hands

“Remember, democracy never lasts long. It soon wastes, exhausts, and murders itself.” – John Adams

Incidentally, the US is not a Democracy.  It’s become that both major parties keep misstating this case over and over again.  The plain and very simple truth is our founding fathers were adamantly against democracy for the reasons cited in this quote.  The rule of democracy is the rule of the mob and as such leads to its own self destruction.  It makes me cringe every time I hear our political leaders misspeak on this.  It’s even enshrined in our much overlooked Constitution.

See Article 4, Section 4, Clause 1 of the US Constitution for verification of what I stated.
