Childhood's dreams into imaginary
We set it out that we'll be legendary
Fighting hard against the grain
Certain that being ordinary would hurt our brains

You were going to be a famous actress
You declared as we laid back against the mattress
We shared our popcorn in late night talks
Spent holding each other's hand as we walked

I was going to be a singer to write music for the night
We laughed as we danced until morning's light
Now, I only play my songs to echoed walls
That's the reverberation of childhood's fall

The last time I saw you made me smile
For goodness sakes, that's been a long while
And look at you now up on the screen
And me, I'm just an ordinary human being

I wanted to call you just the other day
But, I didn't want to remind you of yesterday
All those dreams I had I have locked away
You'd tell me to dream again, I'm sure you'd say
