“It is better that ten guilty persons escape than one innocent suffer.” – William Blackstone
This guiding principle behind the legal system in the United States has stood like a strong wall between justice and injustice and is a cornerstone of the Rule of Law. Nancy Pelosi should be ashamed of her pronouncement the other day:
“I don’t want to see [President Trump] impeached; I want to see him in prison.” – Nancy Pelosi
Dear Ms. Pelosi, I would like to invite you to review our Constitution and perhaps urge you to read the case law surrounding the Fourth Amendment:
“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.”
Maybe start here:
What you have stated while pandering to the media, is nothing short of egregious, particularly if you truly believe the President has done some wrong doing worthy of your sentiment. I’ll let another speak truth to your madness:
“I have to tell you, as a liberal Democrat, I’m appalled at Nancy Pelosi. The idea of her weaponizing the criminal justice system — and calling for the imprisonment of the president of the United States without him being charged with any crime, without him being charged with any impeachable offense — it’s just outrageous. You can’t just target a president and say, ‘We want to see him in prison,’ without producing evidence.” – Alan Dershowitz
To see Dershowitz’s comments in their entirety, so that you might better understand that every thinking American should be outraged by your statements.
Which part are you playing? Stalin or Beria? Either way this is not how America’s legal business is done and is nothing short of disgusting. The whole conduct of this ‘investigation’ of President Trump reeks of a show trial mentality. Your latest comment cements that into evidence.
I pray for you and hope that you restore a bit of dignity to yourself by apologizing and righting your course. Please become at least a respecter of the rule of law. For without this rule of law, our great nation becomes just another arbitrary and capricious land which is without question unsettling and unworthy of the principles of our county’s founders and their principles.
(A letter much like this has gone out by me under my real name to Ms. Pelosi. I would like others who are so inclined to make her aware that we are watching and listening and seeing things that do not belong in America’s criminal justice system nor our politics. Thanks to all who join with me to protect our Constitutional rights from this outrage.)
