It isn’t so long ago that mental illness was seen as the Devil’s work. I was watching a show tonight and it reminded me of this.
Beauty In A Blade of Grass by Michael Romani Scratching at the walls Of asylum's fear Faded memories recall Only one being there Anger and sadness Different shades of the same Two sides of madness Brought on by shame Touched by Satan's wrath Deep inside my soul Won't wash away in a bath Feeling sweeping out of control Pinky swears and promises Have no part in this scene Life lived by compromises Approaching the obscene Step by step Sanity's edged away One tragic misstep Brings closure to the day God no longer knows me He has abandoned me as lost Just another soul carved in poetry Smiling at the pain and cost Touched by Satan's claw I am the black sheep foretold Living life as an outlaw Whose soul has been sold Translucent in my perception There is beauty in a blade of grass Wicked in my conception But, this too shall pass (c) June 19, 2019 Michael Romani All Rights Reserved
