Gasping At the Glimpses

Do you ever take a moment to realize how much we simply take for granted?  All the miracles that make up every day life?

Enchanted Memories - Living Room I - Spin of the Globe

Gasping At the Glimpses
by Michael Romani

Life, so wonderfully unlikely
Each moment, such a sight to see
And yet, it is and stays here
With nothing but everything to fear

And yet, not to fear, because we alone
Look out the capsule's window, seeing home
As if someone turned the lights on
Filled with too much wonder to ever be gone

From up above and looking down on the land
This provides a better way to understand
The many connections that make us all one
Terra Firma circled is circling the sun

All the near misses and all the lucky breaks
It is enough to make this man's soul shake
Living deeply into this thing seen as infinity
Gasping at the glimpses that bring eternity

I've seen enough of things we call everything
And that without which we are next to nothing
To know that the strangest, most beautiful place
Is this Earth that with each sunrise I embrace

All of the things that are too often taken for granted
All of the stories we're told and are often ranted
We learn that without gravity, tears don't fall
And learn to appreciate it all on this great blue ball
