Thankful For God's Love and Mercy
by Michael Romani

Giving thanks for all at all times
Expressed in my thousand rhymes
Always seeking wisdom in my prayers
Walking this world without false airs

Surely as the goodness of your mercy
I hum along to the song of your Divinity
Dwelling in the house of your Holy name
Keeping your ways without shame

Constant and true in my constant adoration
Enraptured in my steadfast fascination
With the songs of your heaven-sent ministry
In awesome wonder as I take inventory

Of all the good things that you have given
Awestruck at the thought that I am forgiven
Despite all my wrongs, you have died for me
On a cross, you gave all to teach me humility

How can I have any less than deepest gratitude
I hope this shows in all and not just in platitude
For, I know the depths that you've given humanity
Expressed in paused prayers humbled in my dignity

Pieces of the puzzle jumbled but together
Sequential order might seem a bit better
But they'd never tell the tale told
That of the power of a soul pure as gold

The bigger the problems that we must face
The greater the faith that we must embrace
As children of God, we know that we will prevail
Still, we hesitate in doubt until our hearts are still

With the faith of prayer offered up in purity
We find our way to our blessed surety
Thankful and humbled we step ever forward
Moving against and constantly toward

Until bravely in God's spirit we find our way
Taking courage we conquer every day
Even the smallest among us will know the win
As our Lord and God gives us strength against all sin
