Standing On the Ledge

Today, dear readers, is New Year’s Eve.  I do hope each and every one of you has a truly beautiful, safe and wonderful New Year’s Eve! May your night and new morn be filled with the 20/20 of recalling nothing but the best of past moments, may your present be filled with happiness and hope and may all of your tomorrow be better than all of your yesterdays!

Happy New Year 2019!!

Standing On the Ledge
by Michael Romani

Watching the clock toward the end of the day
Hoping to find right words as they get in the way
Waiting for tomorrow, trapped by yesterday
Finding myself at moments with nothing to say

Hope smiles from somewhere out on the edge
As I find myself standing on the ledge
Whispering a shout that tomorrow will be
And that "will be" is part of the journey

Happiness like a friend waits to get it right
Smiling a dream insisting that we have all night
Ringing in the love of truth and what is right
Tomorrow's frosty morn is still sunny and bright

Too much to drink they say is barely enough
Though it might just leave you feeling a bit rough
I'm going to write each day indelibly on my heart
Self assured played soft and loud in counter-part

One part counted sweetly on a tender melody
Three parts enamored in their constant harmony
Twenty Twenty is convinced she'll be my year
I'm not one to argue as I lift my cup in cheer
