The Metrics of Notoriety
by Michael Doyle

Looking over your shoulder
For a glimpse inside your mind
Feeling so much bolder
Often surprised by what I find

Interaction at design
Finding the core we improvise
Playing together toe to the line
Finding an us in our compromise

It's a bottomless scroll
In an never-ending loop
So much lies out of our control
As we talk together on the stoop

Though we're miles apart
We aren't that very far
You're there in my heart
Emblazoned as my guiding star

I'm not wanting to define your choice
As to if and when you've had enough
I'm giving to you your path and voice
Yet, still playing at life off the cuff

Are we stuck in meters of popularity
Or can we be just who we are
I don't want to know your notoriety
I just want to love you for who you are
