I had the opportunity as a child to live in Virginia for a time. There were three cities we visited in some sort of historical triangle: Jamestown, Williamsburg and Yorktown. It would not be wrong to believe that viewing these historical places shaped the man I have been in my life.
Jamestown Remembered by Michael Doyle Surviving the tempest of the sea They crossed to land hoping to be free Where every man might rise to be All the man he was born to be It was to the colony of Jamestown That they set their hope away from the Crown Taking from the land its fair bounty Standing as tall admirers of this land's majesty Building a new world off the old world's dreams Puzzled that truth is never what it seems Despite all the tales that are solemnly told The captains of industry chase after gold The towns hoped for to rise from ambition Would spring up from those beads of perspiration From a hundred acres given for ancient dedication The Virginia Company birthed a free nation (c) March 17, 2020 Michael Doyle All Rights Reserved
