While You Named the Stars For Me

It’s the eighth day of Na/GloPoWriMo 2020!  Today’s optional prompt is to take bits of Twitter bot generated poets and run with it to make it our own.  I have no idea what others did, but, it seemed the thing to do to run with all the poet bots the organizer  chose as examples and weave them into a poem with my own words sprinkled in to give these my own meaning.

The Mystic Muse - Dancing With Desiree

While You Named the Stars For Me
by Michael Doyle

There in the deep valley
     Of shattered monuments
Rests a sense of broken deities
     Knowing their dreamless sleep

You speak to me loudly
    Of the masters of reality
Who know more than the wise men
    Who hold their own muse

I am not ready
   For anything to happen
But I will know what to do
Despite the decline of dependable oracles

Unlike the swans
   These have not been faithful
Despite their grandmotherly disguise
Their words are not treats to be had

Desire is not a light thing
For its moments that contain these
Lovers know the happiness and sorrow it brings
In the frailty that is life

The moon installed
    Extended its silver calculations
The sun, it stalled
While you named the stars for me
